The recycling industry is the major cornerstone of a global circular economy! The constantly growing global population and consumer demand is leading to an increased demand for raw materials. Recycling and waste management technologies represent solutions for meeting these growing consumption and production patterns.

Secondary raw materials are extremely important for industrial production. They not only account for up to 50 per cent of the world’s raw material needs, but also reduce the consumption of other resources. An example is iron and steel, where recycling saves 74 per cent of the energy and 86 per cent of the air pollution associated with primary production. (Source)

  • Zero Waste in Colorado with Austrian technology
    Binder+Co technology has now become a critical element in achieving the goals of the recently launched Zero Waste initiative of the State of Colorado. A sophisticated sensor based sorting system recycles 80,000 tonnes of broken glass every year. As a result, the glass recycling rate in Colorado has risen from 6.25 to 21.65 percent.   • Chemical fingerprint in recycling – Top Innovation 2018
    The quantitative analysis tool SQALAR from EVK has been awarded the Top Innovation 2018 by the journal inVISION. The combination of the analysis tool and the HELIOS Hyperspectral Cameras makes it possible to directly extract and utilize information about the chemical concentrations and distributions of substances without interrupting the product flow.   • High-tech waste recovery for China
    The recycling specialist REDWAVE will be extending a waste incineration plant, located to the north of Shanghai, with an upstream system for treatment of household waste. Household waste in China presents a particular challenge as it has a high water content with a low calorific value. Using the new mechanical biological waste treatment (MBT), the calorific value will be increased and the residual moisture content in the waste reduced. After various processing steps, this produces a homogeneous high-quality alternative fuel.

  • Mobile household waste processing plants for Ghana
    Komptech is contributing significantly to solve the waste disposal problem in Ghana. Five mobile household waste treatment plants will be equipped with Styrian technology. The Central African state with almost 30 million inhabitants has a massive problem with waste disposal. With this project, landfilled waste is reduced and important recyclables are recycled. In particular, compost is produced, which the state uses to green parks and streets. More information can be found here.

The company Lindner, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, has been offering innovative, tried-and-tested shredding solutions for decades. M-U-T Maschinen-Umwelttechnik-Transportanlagen GmbH

M-U-T was established in 1932 as an engineering office in Stockerau and has been a reliable partner for conveying technology ever since.
